I found a 2014 BMW 335i with 7,500 miles near me. That’s right, not 75k, only 7,500 little miles. That means it’s practically brand new (probably). It’s a one owner car, has a clean C arfax too, so I’m quite interested.
It also allegedly has a manual transmission - I’m always surprised at how many cars are listed on various sites as “manual” when the pictures show an automatic, typically with either flappy paddles or the bumpy stick. No interior pic for this car, but I’m concerned because at the top of the listing it says 6 speed manual, but down under model details it says “Mode Select Transmission” which makes me think an auto with a bumpy stick.
Anyways, I may go take a look at it to see what kind of trans it has and maybe take it for a test drive . They want $27.4 k (though Cargurus says it was originally $26,975). That seems like a good price to me for a car with such low mileage. What do you all think?

Must be updated, because they got interior picks and it indeed looks to be a manual.

I wrote this post last night and scheduled for this AM when I thought more people would see it. Afterwards I had a thought and ran the BMW VIN decoder and it is indeed a manual. The dealer must have updated the listing this morning though.
I wish I had my income tax refund check in hand because I could put a larger down payment on it, but otherwise I‘m very interested in it. I just need to convince Mrs. Snuze now.

I would have been right by there this afternoon too, except the person I'm dropping off at the airport is leaving out of dca instead of Dulles like they flew into. I could've checked it out for you

Thanks, but I’m going to swing over there. I live up in Sterling so I’m not far. In fact my wife and I test drove a CX-5 there last year when we were shopping for her CUV.

NP! Seems decently equipped, too (nav, HUD, heated seats, HK sound system). Really the only minuses for me would be the blue interior highlight and the horrific dealer decal. Hope everything goes well!

Don’t have too much experience with the N55, the one in my dad’s 135is has been good apart from a CEL for VANOS at ~32k miles.

This is a NP despite the “damage” (actually there are 2, hmm) , the N55+manual makes up for the shortcomings of the F30 gen in the dynamics department.

Dealer decal is easy enough to remove. I dont know enough about all the particular packages and options on the car to know about the blue. Is that part of an interior option or did someone add that? Either way, Im not crazy about it but I can li ve with it.

Thanks. I’ve been trying to figure out why the mileage is so low, and DC car was one of my theories. Most people who live in the district walk or take the train and only have a car for weekend trips. Parking is also horrible in DC, so that explains the “non-accident damage.” I think its worth going to look at.

A good inspection can help you understand what body work was done, and it also means you can negotiate aggresively to get a couple thousands off.

That’s the standard interior highlight you get with the M-sport package. It’s no cost to change it to black.

I didn’t know that, thanks. Though after seeing it in person I really don’t mind it. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it looks good, but it’s not bad and not obtrusive.
All that said, I checked out the car, test drove it, and decided at the end of the day I don’t think I’m a BMW guy. The search continues.

That’s too bad! Can’t believe the N55 didn’t charm you. That, pretty handsome styling inside and out , and maybe a shockingly good back seat are an F30 335's main strengths I’d say .

This particular car is nice and overall in quite good condition. I think the right person is going to get a good deal on a time capsule of a car.
It’s hard to put into words, but the car just didn’t do it for me. Its a good car, you’re right, it’s handsome car. And the N55 has a lot of power. Its good, I respect it and can understand why people would want it, but it just didn’t push the right buttons for me. I hate to say it was too good, but it was maybe just too restrained. I just didn’t find it exciting.

Time to drive an E90! Make your way back until you hit a 3-series you like

I noticed the CarFax has damage reported, by the way. Who knows what happened.

An E90 M3 has been suggested to me, and I do like those cars a lot. I got some time until I think I’m really ready to buy so I’m trying to drive a few things to help me in the decision making process.
Also, regarding the damage, the car was a DC car. I looked it over and I couldn’t find any evidence of repair work on the front (paint was matchy matchy, body gaps lined up, no missing, incorrect, or tampered fasteners in that area). The rear was a different story - the right rear corner of the bumper had spider web cracking in the paint. My guess is it had been tapped/scraped while parked on the streets in DC.
